Admin Synchronization

If you have several servers in a cluster and you need to keep their settings in synch, this extension is very useful for you. You just connect the two servers and all updates on one server are propagated to the connected one.

Nowadays with the increasing traffic it is sometimes necessary to cluster an application and use several instances or servers for this purpose. Then it sometimes can be quite tricky to keep all servers settings on all servers up to date.
This is where the new Railo "Instance Synchronization" helps you.
You just need to connect two Railo servers or instances and let Railo do all the work. One server just acts as the master and all other connected servers will update their settings just according to the setting changes made on the "master" server.
A connection between two Railo web contexts can be made in the Railo Web Administrator in the Remote section.

In order to encrypt the information sent between the two servers, Railo 3.0 identifies each Railo instance with a certain key found under "Remote/Security Key". This key is necessary when you want to connect two contexts.

You can either do a master slave connection or a binary connection where every context serves as a master and slave at one time, so that no matter in which context the change was made, it will be propagated to all connected servers. You can of course connect several context from a given one.

Admin synchronization

The video below displays how the admin synchronization can be used. It is a quite strait forward process. Since all synch settings are internally stored in the task manager, even a server crash will not prevent updates that have to be made on any of the servers.
